Creating a node type
To create a node type, please complete the steps below:
- Navigate to Tree Structures → Node Types.
- Click New and fill in the fields.
- Click Save or Save and Exit to apply changes.
Node type fields
| Field | Mandatory | Description |

| Name | Y | A node type name (for example, "Portal Card"). |
| RE Model | N | Specify a record extension model responsible for the final object view and behavior. |
| Need URL | N | By selecting this checkbox, you can define that all objects using this node type will not require URL specification. |
Creating a new tree
To create a new tree, please complete the steps below:
- Navigate to Tree Structures → Trees.
- Click New and fill in the fields.
- Click Save or Save and Exit to apply changes.
Tree form
| Field | Mandatory | Description |

| Name | Y | Descriptive tree name. |
| Available node types | Y | Select node types to use within this structure from the Node Types dictionary. You can select more than one item. |
| Maximum nesting level | Y | Specify an integer number responsible for the hierarchy maximum level. |
| Active | By selecting this checkbox, you can make a tree active or inactive. |
Creating a node
To create a node, please complete the steps below:
- Navigate to Tree Structures → Trees.
- Open a tree record in which you need to create a node.
- Scroll down to the Simple Node related list.
- Click New and fill in the fields.
- Click Save or Save and Exit to apply changes.
To create a node from scratch, please complete the steps below:
- Navigate to Tree Structures → Nodes.
- Click New and fill in the fields.
- Click Save or Save and Exit to apply changes.
Node fields

| Title | Y | Node title. This field can be populated in any language supported by the platform |
| Active | By selecting this checkbox, you can make a node active or inactive. | |
| Simple tree | Y | Select a previously created tree containing information about the structure. |

| Access criteria | N | Specify the User Criteria defining user access to this node (card or header element). If no criteria selected, then all users are allowed to use this element and its sub-elements as long as they are not protected by separate criteria. |
| Node type | N | Specify a node type by choosing from the previously created. |
| Nesting level | N | Specify node nesting level. This parameter is responsible for how many levels of sub-elements can be for this item. The parent item is not taken into account. |
Specific attributes tab | ||
| This tab appears if the Need URL attribute of the node type chosen in the Node Type field is enabled. | ||
| URL | Y | Specify an URL for an item. |
| Icon | N | Specify an icon for an item by attaching it from your device.

| Short Description | N | Specify a short description for an item. |
After creating a node that allows creating child nodes, you can do this right from its record form. For this, please complete the steps below when you are done and have saved the form:
- Scroll down to the Child nodes related list.
- Click New and fill in the fields as described above.
- Click Save or Save and Exit to apply changes.
