Trend reports show the dynamics of data changes. The data is represented as columns over periods, which is useful for monitoring time parameters.

Create a trend report


Use Report Designer to create, configure, and style pie reports.

To create a bar report, follow the steps below:
  1. Navigate to the Reports → Create a Report.
  2. On the Data tab, fill in the mandatory fields: 
    • Report name - enter the desired name;
    • Table - select the table you want to use as a source.
  3. Click Next or the Type tab to continue.
  4. On the Type tab, click the Trend icon of the Time Series category:
  5. Click Next.
  6. Fill in the mandatory fields, and configure the data, then click Refresh to generate a report.

    The Report Designer can stop the report generating if there is a large amount of data to display. Use Conditon Builder to limit the data sampling or try another type of report.

  7. Customize the style of the report created, and click Refresh.
  8. Click Save.

To open the saved report, navigate to the Reports → All reports menu and select one from the list.


Configure the data


On the Configure tab, use settings to specify the source datasets to build the desired report.

To configure a report, follow the steps below:

  1. On the Configure tab, specify the report dataset.
  2. Click Refresh to build the report.
  3. Click Save to save the report.

Use the Condition Builder to establish additional conditions for data filtering and grouping.

Click the icon to open the Condition Builder, establish your conditions, then click Refresh to apply changes.

Trend by

Select a datetime table column as a time parameter you want to monitor.

Group by

Select a table column as a criterion for data grouping.

Per

Select a time period for the data changed:

  • Day;
  • Week;
  • Date;
  • Hour;
  • Month;
  • Quarter;
  • Year.
Add data tableSet this checkbox on to show the data table below your report view.
Aggregation type

The data aggregation allows preparing the combined datasets for data processing according to the user needs.

Select a type of the data aggregation with one of these options:

  • Average - counts an average number of the column values. 
  • Count - counts a number of entries.
  • Count distinct - counts the number of unique values of the column.
  • Sum - counts the sum of the numeric data values in this table column.

The Sum and Average settings make sense if the aggregation column keeps the numeric data.

The aggregation option selected is applied to the table column set in the Aggregation column field.

Aggregation column

Select a table column with numeric values for data aggregation.

The Aggregation Column is only available if the Aggregation type option is not Count.

Groups limitSet the limit of the data groups shown in your report with a particular number in this field.
Show rest as other

Set this checkbox on to show the data groups not included in Groups limit as one.

The Show rest as other is only available if the Groups limit option is specified.


Customize the style


You can configure the report look in any way you want with the style settings.

To customize a report style, follow the steps below:

  1. On the Style tab of your report, configure the settings.
  2. Click Refresh to apply the changes.
  3. Click Save to save the report.

Change colors, add titles, and customize the data list and table views with the settings below.

General Style
Chart color type

Select the color type of your trend chart from one of these options:

  • Use one color;
  • Use color palette;
  • Default.
ColorSet the color for your trend chart if you selected Use one color as the color type.
PaletteSet the desired color palette for your trend chart if you selected Use color palette as the color type.
Display data labelsSwitch this checkbox on to display the data labels on your trend chart.
Drilldown list layout

Use this option to configure the view of the data slice drilled down. Click the magnifier icon  and, in the window appeared, select the desired list view of the source table.

See Personal list layout if you want to configure the list view as you like.

Decimal precisionSet the number defining how much numbers should be displayed after the point of numeric data values in your chart.
Title Style
Report title show type

Set the type for the report title showing. Select one of the options:

  • Never;
  • Report only;
  • Always.
Report titleEnter the title of the report you create.
Report title sizeEnter the number of pixels to set the size of the report title.
Report title colorSelect the color of the report title.
Title alignment

Set the alignment of the chart title selecting one of these options:

  • Left Top;
  • Left Middle;
  • Left Bottom;
  • Right Top;
  • Right Middle;
  • Right Bottom;
  • Center Top;
  • Center Bottom.
Title boldSwitch this checkbox on to make the chart title bold.
Legend Style
Show LegendSet this checkbox on to make the chart legend show.
Legend alignment

Set the alignment of the chart legend with one of the options:

  • Left Top;
  • Left Middle;
  • Left Bottom;
  • Right Top;
  • Right Middle;
  • Right Bottom;
  • Center Top;
  • Center Bottom.
Show legend borderSet this checkbox on to make the border of your chart legend show.
Axis X Style
X titleEnter the title name for the X-axis for your chart.
X title sizeEnter the number of points to set the size for the title of the X-axis.
X title boldSet this checkbox on to make the title of the X-axis bold.
X display oppositeSet this checkbox on to make the X-axis display opposite.
X display gridSet this checkbox on to display the grid of the X-axis.
X grid dottedSet this checkbox on to make the X-axis grid  dotted.
X label sizeEnter the number of points to set the size of the X label.
Axis Y Style
Y titleEnter the title name for the Y-axis for your chart.
Y title sizeEnter the number of points to set the size for the title of the Y-axis.
Y title boldSet this checkbox on to make the title of the Y-axis bold.
Y display oppositeSet this checkbox on to make the Y-axis display opposite.
Y display gridSet this checkbox on to display the grid of the Y-axis.
Y grid dottedSet this checkbox on to make the Y-axis grid  dotted.
Y fromSet the Y value used as the chart starting point.
Y toSet the Y value used as the chart endpoint.
Y label sizeEnter the number of points to set the size of the Y label.
