Use the <sidemenu> tag to add a side menu.

Available attributes:

childrenDepthIntegerYSpecify the depth of the child categories.
includeCategoriesBooleanNIf true, adds categories to the side menu.
includeItemsBooleanNIf true, adds items to the side menu.
